Isaac Plains Coal

Isaac Plains Coal is a 50:50 joint venture between Vale and Aquila Resources. The mine is located approximately 7 km from Moranbah in central Queensland and produces approximately 2.8 million tonnes of thermal and metallurgical coal per annum.

NMS Contractors was engaged to provide contract mining services at Isaac Plain Mine from October 2008 to September 2009. During this time NMS set site records for overburden removal (up to 2.3 million BCM per month) and coal production (up to 360,000 ROM tonnes per month).

The NMS plant fleet on site included five 250-tonne excavators and a fleet of fourteen 150-tonne and 95-tonne rear dump trucks, along with several D11-sized dozers and associated support equipment. Operations occurred on a 24/7 basis and the NMS workforce peaked at in excess of 170 operators, maintainers and supervisory personnel.
